ST. AUGUSTINE, FL (06/03/2014)(readMedia)-- "Big Fish" author Daniel Wallace will speak by Skype following a showing of the Tim Burton film based on his book June 26 at 6 p.m. at the Southeast Branch Library.
Wallace is the author of five novels. His first, "Big Fish," was made into a motion picture by Burton in 2003, and a musical version on Broadway in 2013. His work has been translated into more than 25 languages and is studied in high schools and universities across the country. He is a contributing editor to Garden & Gun magazine and is the J. Ross MacDonald Distinguished Professor of English at the UNC Chapel Hill, where he teaches and directs the Creative Writing Program.
The film showing and talk is a fundraiser for The Florida Heritage Book Festival. Suggested donation is $5.

The Florida Heritage Book Festival will take place in St. Augustine Sept. 25-27 with panel discussions, book signings, a writers conference and a banquet honoring novelist Dr. Robin Cook as this year's Florida Literary Legend.

The Florida Heritage Book Festival in St. Augustine, Fla., promotes the state's authors and literary works while providing educational opportunities for the students of St. Johns County. Since 2008, the festival has attracted more than 200 nationally-known authors and writers to its annual panel discussions, book signings, and writers conference.
