SENATOBIA, MS (08/02/2018) The Northwest Ranger Bluegrass Festival committee is looking for food vendors for the upcoming Ranger Bluegrass Festival presented by Gateway Tire. The festival will be held at the Northwest Farm on Saturday, Oct. 13 from 9 a.m.- 9 p.m. and any food vendor who commits to work all day will have their entry fee waived, according to volunteer and activities coordinator Angie Stuart. "The entry fee is $150, but for vendors who stay until at least 5 p.m., we will refund that fee," Stuart said. "We will make every attempt to have no duplicate vendors," she added.
Stuart noted that the spaces are approximately 20-25 feet as needed on gravel and electricity is not provided. "Spots are limited. We will only have spots for 6-8 trucks total, but others can set up near our "Bread and Jam" tent," she said. She added that only trucks will be allowed to use generators, and no food vendor will have access to electrical outlets.
Sales of any alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited. Applications will need to be received by Aug. 31, Stuart said.
The event is a one-day music festival featuring nationally-recognized, award-winning bluegrass bands. The primary goal of this event is to raise funds for scholarships to benefit Northwest students, while sharing an appreciation of bluegrass music and culture.
Tickets are available at Eventbrite.com. Advance tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for children/students (ages 6-17) and $30 for a family pass. Festival activities include six performing bands and musicians on the main stage, a bluegrass competition, bluegrass jamming and parking lot picking, a free children's activity area, food trucks, demonstrations and more.
Slated to appear at the festival are Mike Compton and Joe Newberry, Missy Raines and the New Hip, Barefoot Movement, Xaris Waltman, Alice Hasen and Andy Ratliff.
