Former Timberland CEO, Jeff Swartz, to speak at the inaugural David Healy Business Lecture at Mount Ida College on November 8. The event is free and open to the public.

NEWTON, MA (11/01/2012)(readMedia)-- Jeffrey B. Swartz, the former CEO of The Timberland Company, a business that earned its reputation as one of the most socially responsible for-profit companies, will be the inaugural speaker of The Mount Ida College David Healy Business Lecture on Thursday, November 8, 2012. The lecture, Moral Capitalism-The Power to Change the World-In Your Hands, is from 4:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. in the auditorium at Carlson Hall at the College. The event, which will include a question and answer session, will be hosted by the Mount Ida School of Business and DECA, a student business club. The event is free and open to the general public.

The David Healy Lecture Series was established in 2011 to bring prominent business leaders to campus to speak with business students and the College community as a complement to the undergraduate and graduate curriculum of the School of Business. The lecture series is named in honor of David Healy, the former Vice President of Finance and Acting Vice President of Development, who retired in August 2011, after nine years of dedicated service. Also named Treasurer Emeritus by the Board of Trustees, Healy continues to teach at as an adjunct faculty member in the School of Business.

Swartz spent 26 years at The Timberland Company, a global brand of footwear and apparel, the last 15 years as CEO. He was the third generation of his family to lead the Company. Having sold the business to VF Corporation in September 2011, Jeff now primarily focuses his time on sustainable social change, both in Israel and in the United States.
