Forrest Allen Receives Final Convocation Award at Hampden-Sydney College

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (05/09/2013)(readMedia)-- At Final Convocation on April 25, Hampden-Sydney College senior George Forrest Allen received the James Madison Award, presented by Dr. Warner R. Winborne '88, Associate Professor of Government & Foreign Affairs. The James Madison Award is given to a political science major for outstanding scholastic achievement.

A Venable Scholar, Forrest serves as a Resident Advisor. He is a member of the honor society Phi Beta Kappa (academics), the College Republicans, the Fly Fishing Club, and the Beta Theta Pi social fraternity. He recently received the James Madison Public Service Certificate from the Wilson Center for Leadership. A foreign affairs major, Forrest graduated from West Potomac High School and is the son of George & Susan Allen of Alexandria.

A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked in the top tier of liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the education of young men.
