The Fourth Annual Beyond BK Intern Recognition Dinner celebrated the achievements of five Freed-Hardeman University students who completed internships with various companies.
Beyond BK stands for Beyond Brown-Kopel, which is the name of the building that houses the business college. Beyond BK is a school initiative that focuses students on career exploration and gaining real-world professional experience in their fields early in their college careers.
Amy Sewell, CFP, an instructor in FHU's College of Business, said internships are essentially interviews that last all summer. She said the student experience provides a competitive advantage when they are seeking a post-graduation job.
Five students shared their experiences with attendees of the annual dinner. Those students include Dean Bechman, who interned at LBMC in Brentwood, Tennessee; Sadie Holland, who interned at National HealthCare Corporation in Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Shane Winkler, who interned at Glenn Grayson Home Builders in Nashville, Tennessee; Macy Ulmer, who interned at Alpha Alert Systems in Adamsville, Tennessee and Jackson Vize, who interned at GE Appliances in Louisville, Kentucky.
The evening was sponsored by HCA Healthcare.
