HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (05/09/2012)(readMedia)-- At Final Convocation on April 26, Hampden-Sydney College sophomore Frederick Louis Antoine received The Sullivan Scholarship, presented by Mr. Stephan L. McDavid, President of the Sullivan Foundation, and Dr. Christopher B. Howard, President of Hampden-Sydney College. The Sullivan Scholarship is awarded to a rising junior at the end of his sophomore year; it covers half his tuition for his junior and senior years. The Foundation's main criteria for selection are evidence of a strong moral character and evidence of service beyond self.

In his sophomore year, he participated and graduated from the Society of '91 Leadership Program. Frederick is currently serving his third term on the student senate and has been elected as senate chairman by his colleagues. In February, Frederick was elected as President of Circle K International – leading the organization to raise the most money as a collegiate institute for the March of Dimes charity in the Farmville District.
Frederick has published several articles for the student newspaper, the Hampden-Sydney Tiger, and was inducted to The Society for Collegiate Journalists. He has worked on the annual Student Philanthropy Campaign and has been a part of the honor roll for donors of his class. Frederick also serves the campus community as a peer mentor for The Student Network. An economics major, Frederick graduated from Aspirations High School and is the son of Millicent E. Gregory of Queens Village.
