Fresh Fruit Is the Featured Ingredient in State Fair Dessert Contest

DES MOINES, IA (09/03/2024) (readMedia)-- Olivia Smith of Winterset won First Place Overall and a $75 dollar gift certificate in the Iowa Orchards Creations contest judged Friday, August 9, at the 2024 Iowa State Fair.

Andrea Oleson of Des Moines earned Second Place Overall and a $50 gift certificate.

Entries were judged on taste, creativity and appearance.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There were 140 divisions, 726 classes and over 6,400 entries at this year's Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center.
