Fruit is the Star Ingredient for State Fair Orchard Creations Contest

DES MOINES, IA (08/31/2023) (readMedia)-- Jenn Goellner of Urbandale won First Place Overall and a $75 gift certificate in the Iowa Orchards Creations competition judged Friday, August 11, at the 2023 Iowa State Fair.

Brooke Mickelson of Clive earned Second Place Overall and a $50 gift certificate.

Entries were judged on taste, creativity and appearance.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There were 138 divisions, 695 classes and over 6,800 entries at this year's Fair. Food Department judging was held in the Elwell Family Food Center.
