BATAVIA, NY (06/01/2017) (readMedia)-- The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) announced its list of men's lacrosse All-Americans for the 2017 season on Wednesday and three members of the GCC men's lacrosse team were included. Sophomores Pat Van Bortle (Fairport) and Davis Prince (London, Ontario) were named first team All-Americans and sophomore Bailey Skye (Six Nations, Ontario) was named to the second team.

Van Bortle becomes a two time All-American as the sophomore attack was also named to the first team as a freshman in 2016. He tied for the seventh most points in the country this spring with 71, scoring 40 goals and assisting on 31. Also named to the All-Region III First Team, Van Bortle leaves GCC with the third most career goals (109) and fourth most points (189).

Prince was second in the nation in assists with 49 and tallied the third highest points total with 91. A sophomore attack, Prince set a single game GCC record with 10 assists in an Apr. 12 win over SUNY Broome and was also named to the all-region first team. He leaves Genesee with the third highest points total with 192.

Skye was in the top 20 nationally in ground balls, collecting a season total of 58. He led the Cougars in caused turnovers with 19, which were also top 20 in the nation. The sophomore defender scored one goal and assisted on five and was also named first team all-region.

Genesee finished the 2017 season with an 11-3 overall record and earned a share of the Region III title. The Cougars advanced to the NJCAA National Final Four for the sixth time in the last seven seasons and held the nation's No. 1 ranking for three consecutive weeks this spring.
