GCC Men's Soccer Announces Upcoming Fall Schedule

BATAVIA, NY (07/19/2016)(readMedia)-- The Genesee Community College men's soccer program recently announced its schedule for the upcoming fall season, which includes nine home contests throughout the 15-game regular season slate.

Genesee opens with Monroe CC at home on Aug. 31 at 4 p.m. before beginning the month of September on the road at Mohawk Valley CC on the 3rd. The Cougars will return home for back-to-back games against Corning CC (Sept. 7) and Tompkins-Cortland CC (Sept. 10) and will play their first divisional conference opponent on Sept. 14 at Niagara County CC. SUNY Adirondack will visit GCC on Sept. 18 at 1 p.m. and Genesee will head to Cayuga CC on Sept. 21, host Jefferson CC on Sept. 24 and end the month on the road at Erie CC on Sept. 29.

October begins with a road date at Jamestown CC on the 5th before the Cougars begin a three-game homestand against Onondaga CC (Oct. 8), Finger Lakes CC (Oct. 12) and Herkimer College (Oct. 15). GCC will play its road finale at Mercyhurst North East on Oct. 18 and conclude its regular season at home against SUNY Broome CC on Oct. 22.

The Region III playoffs will begin on Oct. 22 with a sub-regional round at a place to be determined and the regional finals will take place at Tompkins-Cortland CC on Oct. 29.

Herkimer College is once again the host site for the NJCAA National Tournament, which is scheduled to be played Nov. 10-13.

Genesee is coming off of a record season in 2015, setting the school record for most wins (20), including a perfect 17-0 regular season, and the national record for most goals (141) in a single season. The Cougars held the No. 1 ranking in the country for five consecutive weeks and won the Region III District A championship, advancing to the second NJCAA Men's Soccer National Tournament in school history.
