BATAVIA, NY (11/30/2015)(readMedia)-- Three members of the Genesee Community College men's soccer team were recently named National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Americans for the 2015 season. Freshman forward William Stone (Little Hampton, UK) and freshman midfielder Rafael Godoi (Osasco, SP, Brazil) were named to the All-American First Team and freshman forward Ricard Fernandez-Sarro (Barcelona, Spain) was named to the second team. The announcement was made by the association on Monday.

Stone, also named the Region III Player of the Year, played in and started 18 games this fall for GCC. He led the country in assists with 18 and was fifth in goals with 25. He totaled 68 points, the third highest mark in the country and accounted for two game-winning goals.

Godoi was second in the region in assists with 15, which was the third best mark in the country. He scored 14 goals and totaled 43 points, the fifth highest mark in the region. Godoi made 19 starts during his freshman campaign.

Fernandez-Sarro led the country in goals (36) and points (79) and set the single-season school record in both categories. He scored a goal in all but five of GCC's 21 games this fall and scored multiple goals in 10 contests.

The Cougars were the No. 1 ranked team in the country for five consecutive weeks and won the Region III District A championship, advancing to the second NJCAA Men's Soccer National Tournament in school history. The 2015 team set the national record for most goals in a season with 141 and 20 wins is the new school record for most victories in a single season.
