ALBANY, NY (02/12/2008)(readMedia)-- - (ALBANY, NY, FEBRUARY 2008) Today, New York Governor Eliot Spitzer joined WAMC’s President and Political Analyst, Dr. Alan Chartock, at the station's Albany studios to discuss issues of concern to New Yorkers on WAMC’s one hour live radio call-in program, Vox Pop. This program, the first in a series of monthly open mic broadcasts with Governor Spitzer, was made available to other stations state-wide. “The way that democracy works is for people to be able to talk to government and have their questions answered.” said Chartock at the completion of the program. He was pleased with the way the program went, noting that due to the high volume of calls, many listeners were not able to get through by phone and the station implemented their email service.
For one hour today, WAMC cut away from their February fund drive in progress while the Governor took listener questions about NYRA, healthcare, taxes, job losses, and more. The program is available on demand via podcast at: www.wamc.org.
When he arrived, Governor Spitzer visited the station's Pledge Central to talk with staff and fund drive volunteers. He took a moment to appeal to all New Yorkers to support their public radio station.
