WAMC HELPS PEOPLE IN NEED AND REDUCES CARBON FOOTPRINT
ALBANY, NY (02/11/2019) (readMedia)-- WAMC Northeast Public Radio's February Fund Drive mobilized listeners to help provide shelter to the homeless, diapers to children and aid in the reduction of carbon pollution.
WAMC ended the Fund Drive on 2/11/16 at 6:00 p.m., raising $1,006,298.49 in twelve hours and a Locked Box.
WAMC partnered with The Seymour Fox Memorial Foundation and Joseph's House & Shelter to provide 1,800 nights of emergency shelter. Joseph's House & Shelter in Troy provides meals, access to personal care, medical and dental care, legal services and other support to keep the homeless off the streets.
The Fox Foundation also helped to provide 45,000 diapers to babies in the region. The diapers will be distributed by The Food Pantries for the Capital District.
"Thanks of course to everyone who pledged and helped out and did this amazing, beautiful, and incredible thing" said Joe Donahue, Roundtable Host/Senior Advisor. "Thanks to our partners at the Seymour Fox Memorial Foundation, The Food Pantries for the Capital District as well as Joseph's House & Shelter and the others. The love was amazing and it feels really really good."
The Adirondack Council also partnered with WAMC and it's supporters to keep 100 tons of carbon pollution out of the atmosphere.
