Gargoyle takes home 5 awards in Sunshine State Awards

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL (08/21/2014)(readMedia)-- The Gargoyle, Flagler College's online newspaper, won five awards in the Society of Professional Journalists Florida Pro Chapter's 2014 Sunshine State Awards, including three awards for co-editor Alexa Epitropoulos.

Epitropoulos won first place in Best News Story (low-frequency papers), second place in Best Opinion Column and second place in Best Profile (low-frequency papers).

Other winners included first place for Sara Williamson in Best Video and second place for Ashley Goodman in Best Coverage of LGBT Issues. Williamson and Goodman are former editors and recent graduates.

Other students who received awards represented the University of Florida, Florida Atlantic University, the University of North Florida, Eckerd College, and Florida Southern, among others.
