PADUCAH, KY (05/16/2018) West Kentucky Community and Technical College is offering Gentle Yoga classes in June and July. Early registration is encouraged.

Suzi Renaud is the Gentle Yoga instructor. The classes will be held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between June 4 and June 29 and July 9 and August 3 from 9:45 - 10:30 a.m. in Haws Gymnasium. The cost is $88 per month. Participants need to bring a Yoga mat and wear loose, comfortable clothing to allow stretching and bending.

Gentle Yoga is accessible to all levels and is comforting and relaxing, as well as rejuvenating. It can be practiced by anyone, anytime and anywhere. Yoga acts on the whole body, oxygenating the blood, releasing toxins and toning the digestive system.

Yoga postures (known as asanas) align and stretch the muscles and breathing exercises (pranayama) enhance muscular stretching. The exercise of Yoga massages the organs and glands and relaxes the nervous system.

"Studies have shown that yoga can reduce pain, improve mobility, improve balance, decrease stress, increase focus and improve sleep, said Kevin O'Neill, WKCTC vice president of regional workforce and economic development. "This class will be fun, safe and will benefit participants of for all ages."
