Georgetown Student Shae Seagraves Receives Athletics Award from Southwestern University
GEORGETOWN, TX (04/18/2011)(readMedia)-- Shae Seagraves of Georgetown was named the recipient of the 2011 female Pirate Anchor Award from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.
The Pirate Anchor Award is presented annually by the Student Athletic Advisory Committee to the male and female athletes who best display a number of traits that embody the spirit and character of the Southwestern community. Winners are voted on by members of the Southwestern student body, faculty and staff.
Seagraves is double-majoring in Kinesiology and English and has been a member of the women's basketball team and the golf team. She served as captain of the basketball team for two seasons and was named to the SCAC Academic Honor Roll twice, the SCAC All-Conference Second Team twice and was Southwestern's first-ever member of the SCAC All-Tournament Team after the Pirates advanced to the semifinal game at the conference tournament.
In May 2010 Seagraves was selected by the NCAA and represented Southwestern University at the NCAA Career in Sports Forum. She also serves on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and is vice president for the 2010-11 school year.
Seagraves gives back to the Georgetown community by serving as a mentor for Georgetown Partners in Education and coaching a group of middle school girls teams through the Georgetown Fury Club.
