Georgia State Student Muskaan Patel Interns at Georgia's Capitol

Georgia State University student Muskaan Patel is working as an intern at the Georgia General Assembly through the university's Georgia Legislative Intern Program (GLIP).

Patel is a junior pre-law/criminal justice interdisciplinary studies major in the College of Arts and Sciences. Patel, from McDonough, said her top goal while interning is to learn the lawmaking process in real-time.

"I consider myself lucky to be able to participate in GLIP because it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that only a few get," said Patel.

As an intern, Patel is working for the House Ways and Means Committee where she assists with writing letters, greeting visitors, attending committee meetings, retrieving committee bills, and handling constituent issues.

Patel plans to go to law school and one day own a law firm. In addition to interning, Muskaan works at her family-owned gas station and convenience store.

GLIP is run by Amy Steigerwalt, Professor of Political Science at Georgia State.

The College of Arts and Sciences provides a skills-based liberal arts and sciences education for Atlanta's diverse, next-generation workforce.
