Georgia State Student Tanya Paniagua Zamora Interns at Georgia Capitol

Georgia State University student Tanya Paniagua Zamora is working as an intern at the Georgia General Assembly through the university's Georgia Legislative Intern Program (GLIP).

Zamora is a third-year law and society interdisciplinary studies major in the College of Arts and Sciences. She said she has always had an interest in the government process and has found her first few weeks in the program enlightening.

"Not only do I get to witness how our state legislative process works, but I also get to be a part of it," Zamora said.

As an intern, Zamora's duties include answering phone calls from constituents all over the state, handling special files, and assisting with administrative needs in the Speaker's Office. She also attends House floor sessions.

After graduating from Georgia State, Zamora plans to attend law school.

GLIP is run by Amy Steigerwalt, Professor of Political Science at Georgia State.

The College of Arts and Sciences provides a skills-based liberal arts and sciences education for Atlanta's diverse, next-generation workforce.
