ST. MARY'S CITY, MD (08/21/2013)(readMedia)-- St. Mary's College of Maryland is pleased to announce that the Omicron Delta Kappa Foundation Scholarship Committee selected Germantown, Md., native Emily Wavering, St. Mary's College class of 2013, as a recipient of the 2013 ODK Scholarship. Each year the foundation awards up to 20 scholarships to members who are applying for post-graduate programs. These $1,000 scholarships are available to students who have earned a 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA, were voting members of their ODK Circle, and are current seniors or have graduated within the past five years.
Wavering was also named the St. Mary's College ODK Circle Leader of the Year. Wavering's selection was based on many contributions. Wavering served as the vice president of ODK and as president and past secretary of the Circle K International Service Club and won the Ellis H. Stroup Distinguished Secretary Award from the Capital District Circle K International Society of Distinguished Collegians. She was a member of the St. Mary's College Nitze Scholars program, Phi Beta Kappa, and Omicron Delta Epsilon, and served as secretary of the Economics Club and as First Year Seminar peer mentor. Wavering also participated in two study-abroad opportunities and interned at Habitat for Humanity ReStore.
Joanne Goldwater, faculty secretary of the St. Mary's College ODK Circle, said, "Emily is a student of exemplary character who exhibits responsible leadership, role modeling, and service to our college and the community."
