Glenn Farrow Recently Named New Anderson DSS Director

COLUMBIA, SC (08/02/2007)(readMedia)-- Glenn Farrow was recently named county director of the Anderson County Department of Social Services. Mr. Farrow has more than (29) years experience in social services with a total of 27 years in the area of Child Protective Services with the Department of Social Services.

Mr. Farrow began his career as a case manager with the Charleston County Department of Social Services in 1978 working in the area of foster care. From Charleston DSS Mr. Farrow transferred to the Florence County Department of Social Services again as a worker in the foster care program of the agency. Mr. Farrow is a native of Florence where he graduated from Francis Marion University with a BS degree in Sociology in 1976 after service in the USMC.

In 1987 Mr. Farrow transferred to Pickens County DSS as a Supervisor of Intake and Assessment. The transfer allowed him and his wife the former Mary Grace Evans, a native of Anderson, to move closer to Mrs. Farrow’s family. Mrs. Farrow has many ties to Anderson County from Pendleton where her father’s family resided to Anderson where she was raised. McCants Middle School in Anderson is named for her Great Grandfather E.C. McCants.

Prior to coming to Anderson County DSS Mr. Farrow was Program Coordinator for Intake and Assessment in both the Pickens County and Greenville County DSS offices. Mr. Farrow has worked in the Greenville office of DSS for 13 years.

Larry Cannon, assistant director of county operations at DSS is confident about Farrow’s appointment. He said, “Glenn brings a wealth of child welfare experience to this position, he will provide quality services to the Anderson community.”

Mr. Farrow has two daughters, Mary a teacher in Greenville County and Rebecca who is finishing in Dental Assisting at Greenville Tec. Mrs. Farrow works for Furman University as a Lab Coordinator in the Biology Dept. Mr. Farrow has completed 4 marathons since 2004. Mr. Farrow completed his first marathon to raise funds for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society and in his last marathon he worked with the Greenville Exchange Club to raise funds for the clubs backpack program where each child coming into Foster Care receives a backpack of personal care items. Mr. Farrow lives in the Easley, SC area.
