Golf Returns Early to Long Island State Park Golf Courses

Lower rates in effect at Sunken Meadow and Bethpage

ALBANY, NY (03/22/2012)(readMedia)-- Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Commissioner Rose Harvey announced that New York State Park golf courses on Long Island are opening for the season – with new lower rates in effect at Sunken Meadow and Bethpage.

"Our fine spring weather provides a great opportunity to check out one of our wonderful State Park golf courses," Commissioner Harvey said. "State Park golf courses are opening up early this year, and offer great value as well as some of the most challenging play in the country. We hope to see our regular golfers and many new visitors hitting the links soon."

To remain competitive, greens fees at Sunken Meadow State Park have been reduced by $2 to $7 across the board. Greens fees for 18 holes were rolled back from $28 to $23 on weekdays and from $33 to $28 on weekends. In addition, fees have been reduced by $2 to $10 for senior and junior golfers at all five Bethpage State Park courses. Greens fees vary, so parks officials recommend golfers contact each course for current fees and reservations. Rates are also listed on the agency's website, www.nysparks.com.

Changes in weather may impact operating schedules and anticipated opening dates. Golfers are advised to call ahead if there is a question about course conditions.
