ALBANY, NY (12/08/2010)(readMedia)-- Governor David A. Paterson today directed that flags on State government buildings be flown at half-staff on Friday, December 10, in honor of a Brooklyn resident who died in Afghanistan on December 5.
Marine Sergeant Nicholas Aleman died while supporting combat operations in Paktia Province. He was assigned to the Deployment Processing Command-East at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
"On behalf of all New Yorkers I want to express our sympathy and condolences to the friends, family and fellow Marines of Sergeant Aleman," Governor Paterson said. "This brave young man served our nation with pride and distinction, and we will honor his dedication and his memory."
Governor Paterson has directed the flags on all State buildings to be lowered to half-staff in honor and tribute to our State's service members who are killed in action or die in a combat zone.
