HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (04/12/2011)(readMedia)-- Hampden-Sydney College senior Stuart Gray Gilchrist recently received the Military Leadership/National Security Studies Program Certificate from Lt. Col. Rucker Snead, Assistant Director of the ML/NSS Program and Dr. Christopher B. Howard, President of Hampden-Sydney College. Hampden-Sydney's Wilson Center for Leadership in the Public Interest initiated the program in the Spring of 2005 for students interested in the historical, political, cultural, ethical, and legal dimensions of national security policy as well as the place and role of the military in American society.

Gray serves as an Admissions Office tour guide (Garnet & Grey Society) and is a member of Rotaract and the social fraternity Sigma Nu. He is a volunteer EMT with the Prince Edward County Volunteer Rescue Squad and a firefighter with the Hampden-Sydney Volunteer Fire Department. Gray completed internships with the Roanoke City Police Department and the Roanoke City Emergency Management Department. Through Hampden-Sydney's international studies program, he studied at the University of Cape Town in Cape Town, South Africa. Stuart is seeking employment in the risk assessment field or with the intelligence community following graduation. A foreign affairs major, Gray graduated from North Cross School and is the son of Vic & Kathy Gilchrist of Roanoke.
