LA MIRADA, CA (01/07/2014)(readMedia)-- Biola University recently received a commitment from Great Oak High School softball player Bailey Dean.

The middle infielder from Temecula, Calif. will join the Eagles for the 2015 season, beginning school in fall 2014.

"Bailey will strongly benefit our program both offensively and defensively," said Head Coach Lorie Coleman. "Her quickness and small game will complement the Biola softball offensive game greatly. Her sunshine, energy and optimism make her a perfect fit for our culture and the character of our team."

Dean has played softball for the last seven years, and has been on a travel ball team (San Diego Breakers) for the previous five years.

She was the Great Oak HS softball Most Valuable Player her sophomore season and enjoys surfing when she is not lacing up the cleats.

Biola softball opens its 2014 campaign in just under a month with a neutral site contest against Southern Oregon University (Jan. 31). Their home opener, a doubleheader against La Sierra, takes place Feb. 4 at 1 p.m.
