ALBANY, NY (04/04/2012)(readMedia)--

In response to the introduction of a package of bills by State Senate Environmental Conservation Committee Chair Mark Grisanti (R-Buffalo), Citizens Campaign for the Environment, Earthworks, Environmental Advocates of New York, and Natural Resources Defense Council released the following statement:

"By introducing legislation today to address issues related to industrial gas drilling by means of fracking, Senator Grisanti is recognizing the lack of oversight and real dangers associated with fracking wastes. We applaud him for these efforts.

Citizens Campaign for the Environment, Earthworks, Environmental Advocates of New York, and Natural Resources Defense Council look forward to working with Senator Grisanti and his colleagues for the remainder of the Legislative Session to protect our waters and communities from fracking.

Our organizations are calling on state leaders to let science and public health concerns be their guide in order to ensure our air, land, waters, and communities are protected from fracking if it is permitted in the Empire State."
