Green Groups to Deliver 'Winning Plays' to Gov Cuomo, NYS Legislature

2012 Green Playbook Outlines Policies for a Cleaner, Healthier & More Prosperous New York

ALBANY, NY (01/11/2012)(readMedia)-- Environmental Advocates of New York and several allied organizations will release the "2012 Green Playbook" and announce 10 'winning plays'–AKA policy priorities-designed to safeguard the health and safety of New York's air, land and water. The playbook lays out strategies that Governor Cuomo and the State Legislature can implement to meet the state's environmental and energy challenges while protecting and restoring New York's natural resources.

Environmental Advocates developed the playbook with input from 15 organizations, including The Adirondack Council, Adirondack Mountain Club, Audubon New York, American Lung Association in New York, Empire State Future, Tri-State Transportation Campaign, The Nature Conservancy New York, New York Public Interest Research Group, Citizens Campaign for the Environment, Natural Resources Defense Council, Sierra Club-Atlantic Chapter, Long Island Pine Barrens Society, Alliance for New York State Parks, Open Space Institute, and New York League of Conservation Voters.

WHO:

David Gahl, Deputy Director, Environmental Advocates of New York, will introduce the Playbook. Dan Hendrick, New York League of Conservation Voters, Nadine Lemmon, Tri-State Transportation Campaign, William Cooke, Citizens Campaign for the Environment, and Roger Downs, Sierra Club – Atlantic Chapter, will speak about particular policy priorities, including climate change, industrial gas drilling called ‘fracking,’ the Environmental Protection Fund, public transit, and solar energy.
