Green Response to Gov's 2010 State of the (NY) State

Environmental Watchdog Recognizes Governor Paterson's Focus on Clean Energy & Efficiency

ALBANY, NY (01/06/2010)(readMedia)-- In his second State of the State address, Governor David Paterson stressed his support for clean energy and energy efficiency as means to bolster New York's economy and create new green jobs. Environmental Advocates of New York recognizes the Governor's interest in reforming the Power for Jobs program, which continues to subvert the State's energy conservation goals and gives away low-cost hydropower to companies that fail to create or retain jobs for New Yorkers.

In his remarks, Governor Paterson recommitted to realizing the State's "45 by 15" goal to expand the amount of electric power generated by clean, renewable sources and obtained through energy efficiency measures.

Environmental Advocates looks forward to a productive Legislative session.
