Green Watchdog Commends Gov Cuomo & NYSDEC for Extending Public Comment Period for Fracking Proposals

ALBANY, NY (11/30/2011)(readMedia)-- In response to the announcement that the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is extending the public comment period on the state's proposals to guide industrial gas drilling called hydraulic fracturing, or 'fracking,' to January 11, 2012, Environmental Advocates of New York released the following statement:

"Environmental Advocates of New York commends Governor Cuomo and the Department of Environmental Conservation for heeding the call of tens of thousands of New Yorkers to extend the public comment period on the state's fracking proposals.

Every New Yorker deserves the time to carefully review and share comments on the state's fracking proposals. An extra 30 days to review the more than 2,000 pages of these highly technical documents is welcome news."
