Green Watchdog to Release Report Documenting New NY Jobs, Businesses Benefiting from Reducing Emissions
'Climate of Change' Highlights Need to Pass Global Warming Legislation
ALBANY, NY (06/14/2010)(readMedia)-- Environmental Advocates of New York will release Climate of Change: How Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions Strengthens New York Business, on Tuesday, June 15, 2010. The report highlights three economic sectors in New York that will benefit from state policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions as well as companies that profit from these policies: Mascoma Corporation in Rome, Solar Energy Specialists in Brooklyn, and ZERODRAFT Energy Specialists in Syracuse and Albany.
WHO: | Ross Gould, Environmental Advocates’ Air & Energy Program Director, and Jackson Morris, Senior Policy Adviser for Pace Energy & Climate Center, will speak to the report’s findings. Representatives from the companies will also be on-hand. |
WHAT: | In light of the lack of federal action on climate change, states such as New York are charged with leading the way on reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Currently, the Global Warming Pollution Control Act—a bill that would reduce the state’s climate change pollution from all sources 80 percent by the year 2050—is poised to become law. Having already passed the Assembly in April, the bill currently has 31 sponsors from both sides of the aisle in the Senate. Passing this legislation and implementing policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions presents new business opportunities for New York. |
