Jason Warner is gaining knowledge of ski trail maintenance at the college golf course.

DELHI, NY (02/24/2018) (readMedia)-- SUNY Delhi Sports and Recreation Management majors are using what they have learned in the classroom and grooming ski trails at the college's golf course.

"We acquired a Kubota UTV and cross country ski trail groomer this past summer and have been using it to maintain the trails," said Assistant Professor Dave DeForest. "The students gain knowledge while using the specialized equipment."

Professor DeForest says that while there is a goal to provide groomed ski surfaces for use in the college's physical education and recreation classes, it has also been the college's intention to provide a recreational resource for the community, encouraging local winter activity.

Currently Sports and Recreation Management major Jason Warner, a Franklin native, is assisting Professor DeForest in the endeavor so that he will have acquired the skill of developing ski trails upon graduation. "I love winter sports, so this was perfect for me," says Warner. "I'm getting experience while doing something good for the community."
