WHAT: The unveiling of the Tobacco Tax Ticker - which tracks in real time the astounding amount of tax dollars lost by New York State from the sale of cigarettes on Indian reservations.
While health programs serving the neediest New Yorkers are at risk, New York is losing a staggering amount of revenue per second. New York State's leading public health organizations will be urging Governor Paterson to do what previous governors have been unable to do - collect taxes on cigarettes sold on Native American reservations.
