Hannah Campbell Receives Hugh O'Brian Youth Fellowship Award

MILLERSVILLE, PA (06/10/2014)(readMedia)-- Hannah L. Campbell, Sunbury, Pa., has been selected to receive the Hugh O'Brian Youth Fellowship Award (HOBY). Campbell will graduate from Line Mountain High School and will attend Millersville University of Pennsylvania this fall to study towards her Bachelor of Science in Education in social studies.

To be considered for the Hugh O'Brian Youth Fellowship Award, the recipient must have earned a class rank placing him or her in the top 10 percent of his or her class, or have combined math/critical reasoning SAT scores of 1170 or higher. The selected student must also have been a HOBY fellow, representing his or her high school at the annual Hugh O'Brian Youth Conference for leadership while in ninth or 10th grade. It is a renewable award of $1,000 per year, to be disbursed in the amount of $500 per semester for up to eight semesters as long as the recipient makes normal academic progress.

Campbell graduated valedictorian from Line Mountain High School while pursuing a traditional college preparatory load of classes that included and honors and Advanced Placement level courses. She was selected to represent her school at the Hugh O'Brian Leadership Conference when she was in 10th grade.

Throughout high school Campbell was a member of the Key Club, serving as the treasurer in 11th grade and as vice president in 12th grade. She was a member of the National Honor Society for two years and served as the society historian as a senior. In grades nine through 12 she was a member of the school Art Club and the German Club, and for two years was an active member of the school musicals. Campbell also played field hockey throughout high school. In 12th grade, in addition to the activities noted above she was a member of the Science Club and served on the Student Council.
