Harleysville Resident Cynthia Yoder Earns Scholarship

CENTER VALLEY, PA (12/06/2013)(readMedia)-- Harleysville, Pa., resident Cynthia Yoder was recently awarded the David M. Petzold Scholarship from DeSales University's adult evening program, ACCESS.

The Petzold Scholarship is also awarded annually to a current ACCESS student who is a criminal justice major and is in good academic standing. The recipient must also work in law enforcement and have a record of service to the community. 

Yoder is currently a civilian police specialist for the Towamencin Police Department assisting with crime scene management and evidence collection.

The David M. Petzold Scholarship was established in memory of Officer David M. Petzold, who was killed in the line of duty on November 9, 2006. Petzold was an alumnus of the DeSales University ACCESS criminal justice program.

The ACCESS program at DeSales has been a regional leader in providing adult education in an accelerated format for more than 35 years. Classes are offered in traditional classrooms, online, or a hybrid of both. Bachelor's degrees, certificates, or courses for personal enrichment are offered on three campuses, Center Valley, Easton-Area, and Lansdale, Pa.

DeSales University, in Center Valley, Pa., is a private, coeducational, four-year liberal arts university affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church. Founded by the Oblates of Saint Francis de Sales in 1965, the 480-acre suburban campus is located 50 miles north of Philadelphia and about 90 miles south of New York City. A total enrollment of nearly 3,000 includes undergraduate day and evening students and graduate students. DeSales has approximately 100 full-time faculty members and offers more than 35 bachelor's degrees and eight graduate programs in a wide range of disciplines.
