Haya Alshaabi Wins Joan M. Herbers Award

Haya Alshaabi received the Joan M. Herbers Award at the annual College of Arts and Sciences Awards Ceremony on May 17, 2019.

This award is presented to a student with outstanding academic performance and excellence in research in biology. Herbers arrived at UVM in 1979 as the first tenure-track female professor in the history of the biology department, and quickly rose to the rank of full professor. For many years Dr. Herbers has been one of the world's most important researchers in animal behavior, especially the social behavior of ants.
