Hazelwood's Lisa Plattner named NAIA Scholar-Athlete

CANTON, MO (03/19/2012)(readMedia)-- The Culver-Stockton College women's basketball team had three players recognized as 2012 Daktronics-NAIA Women's Basketball Division I Scholar-Athletes by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics this week.

The Lady Wildcats, with three team members honored by the NAIA, tied for second (with Evangel) for the most players honored by any school in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC). Central Methodist University had six players honored by the NAIA.

Named to the list were junior guard Lisa Plattner, senior guard Monica Wilson and senior forward Bailey Owen.

Plattner, an athletic training major from St. Louis, Mo. (Hazelwood West HS), is a three-year letterwinner who saw action in 24 games during the season. She averaged 2.5 points and 1.4 rebounds while playing 10.7 minutes per game. Off the court, Plattner has completed five semesters at C-SC and has been named to the Dean's List three times and the Honor Roll twice.

One hundred twenty-seven women's basketball players were recipients of the NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athlete honor. Student-athletes must have a junior or senior academic standing and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50. Transfer students must attend an institution for one full year before being eligible for the scholar-athlete honor.
