Health Insurance Open Houses for Uninsured Residents of St. Lawrence County

STAR LAKE, NY (07/22/2011)(readMedia)-- Fidelis Care, in partnership with Clifton-Fine Hospital, is pleased to offer a series of Health Insurance Open Houses for uninsured residents of St. Lawrence County.

The Open Houses will be held every Thursday through the month of August. On July 28, August 4, and August 11 the Open Houses will run from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm, and on August 18 and August 25 from 12:00pm to 7:00pm, at the Clifton-Fine Clinic, 1014 Oswegatchie Trail, Star Lake, NY.

During July, Fidelis Care offered a series of Open Houses focused on outreach to the former employees of Newton Falls Fine Paper who recently learned that their employer does not plan to resume operations. Nearly half of the former employees spoke with a Fidelis Care representative during these Open Houses. Former employees who have not spoken with a Fidelis Care representative are encouraged to do so at any of the upcoming events.

Fidelis Care offers free or low-cost health insurance through New York State's Child Health Plus, Family Health Plus, and Medicaid Managed Care programs. Members are covered for regular checkups, preventive care, routine screenings, hospital and emergency care, eye exams, dental care, and more.

Fidelis Care also offers a variety of benefit options for seniors through Fidelis Medicare Advantage, Dual Advantage, Medicaid Advantage Plus, and Fidelis Care at Home programs, available in select counties.

To apply for enrollment in Child Health Plus, Family Health Plus, or Medicaid Managed Care through Fidelis Care, please bring proof of age, income, and address.

Some children who had employer-based health insurance coverage within the past six months may be subject to a waiting period before they can enroll in Child Health Plus. This will depend on your household income and the reason your children lost employer-based coverage.
