Heavy Truck Traffic to Impact Travel on Southbound I-476 Next Week in Carbon County

Speed limit reduced to 40 mph through Turnpike construction project 7 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA (10/22/2011)(readMedia)-- The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists traveling southbound from the Mahoning Valley (Exit #74) Interchange on the new Pohopoco Creek and Lehigh River Bridges to be prepared for reduced speeds and slow moving traffic Monday – Saturday (Oct 24-29) between the hours of 7 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Heavy truck traffic will be entering and exiting the left lane southbound Monday – Saturday from designated construction entrances located between milepost A75.5-A72. The speed limit will be reduced to 40 miles-per-hour and enforced daily between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. through the entire 3-mile work zone for the protection of Turnpike customers and construction workers.

Motorists are strongly urged to obey the posted 40 mph speed limit which will be patrolled by Pennsylvania State Police. Fines incurred through the work zone will be doubled.
