HERKIMER, NY (03/06/2012)(readMedia)-- Herkimer County Community College women's basketball player Hayley Awerdick, Ossining, NY has been named to the All Mountain Valley Conference third team.
A 5'4" freshman guard, Awerdick is a Liberal Arts & Sciences: General Studies major. She led the Generals in to a 9-17 record this season under Coach John Campagna. She was the team leader in scoring 14.2 points per game, 34.7% in field goals, 70.2% in free throws, and 36% in three-point field goals. Awerdick is currently tied for 11th in the nation, connecting on 69 of 194 three point field goal attempts.
Herkimer County Community College is a unit of the State University of New York, located in Herkimer, NY about 20 miles east of Utica, NY. With an enrollment of approximately 3,600 students, Herkimer offers more than 40 associate degree and certificate programs, on-campus housing, an active co-curricular activities schedule and a national championship athletic program. Herkimer is a Division III member of the National Junior College Athletic Association and has amassed 33 national, 85 regional and 126 conference championships. Herkimer placed second in the 2010-11 National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) Cup competition.
