Hickory Road at Turnpike Bridge in Plymouth Township to be closed for Utility Work Next Week

Detour in effect 9 am-3 pm on May 9-10 and 8 pm-5 am on May 10-12 near the Plymouth Meeting Mall

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA (05/06/2011)(readMedia)-- The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists that Hickory Road will be closed to traffic and a detour implemented between Germantown Pike and Narcissa Road in Plymouth Meeting starting Monday, May 9 at 9 a.m. for utility relocation work.

Hickory Road in the vicinity of the overhead Turnpike bridge will be closed on Monday and Tuesday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Signs have been posted to alert motorists of the closure. Local access on Hickory Road will be available to Fountain Road from the west and to Jocelyn Road from the east.

The detour route will be marked as follows: Motorists on Germantown Pike will take Walton Road to

Township Line Road, turn right and follow to Narcissa Road. The detour ends at Hickory Road.

Access to the Plymouth Meeting Mall and the Doubletree Guest Suites from Hickory Road will not be affected.

The utility work is part of the Turnpike's total reconstruction project now underway on the Northeastern Extension (I-476) between the Mid-County Interchange and Berks Road (milepost A26).
