The Home Care Association is pleased to recognize her for her passion in providing care that is truly inspiring. Her tireless efforts and commitment to excellence are to be commended.

This award recognizes distinguished and unique contributions by an agency employee or group of employees, home care worker, or professional staff. It recognizes the achievement of new initiatives that benefit the industry, a particular agency or client.
For the past thirty years, Ms. Torres-Suarez has dedicated her professional life to community-based health care – serving as a clinician, advocate, innovator, manager, and top level executive. As Director of Patient Services at St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children, Ms. Torres-Suarez was the guiding force behind the development and implementation of the first pediatric Long Term Home Health Care Program in New York State. She continued to serve St. Mary’s in positions of increasing responsibility for sixteen years. Ms. Torres-Suarez’s administrative accomplishments also include service as Executive Director/CEO of the Home Nursing Association of Westchester.
Since 2000, Ms. Torres-Suarez has been a key executive at Selfhelp Community Services, Inc., most recently serving as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Her responsibilities included administration of all home care programs, including a Licensed Home Care Services Agency, a special needs Certified Home Health Agency, and community home care. Her expertise in strategic planning, financial management, budget development, and clinical delivery systems has been responsible for dramatic program growth and significant revenue enhancement.
