MILLERSVILLE, PA (06/16/2014)(readMedia)-- Hope C. Golden, Catasauqua, Pa., has been selected to receive the Susquehanna Bancshares, Inc. (SBI) Scholarship. Golden will graduate from Catasauqua High School and will attend Millersville University of Pennsylvania this fall to study mathematics.
The SBI award is to be offered to a student, based upon their high school GPA, extra-curricular activity involvement and standardized test scores. The recipient must be an employee or a dependent of a current employee of Susquehanna Bancshares, Inc. and its affiliates, who has decided to enroll at Millersville University. It is a non-renewable award of $1078 to be applied to tuition.
Golden earned high grades while completing a traditional college preparatory program. She was a member of the school volleyball team, serving as team captain senior year. Her team received All-League Honorable Mention in 2013 in the Colonial League. She participated in both school, summer league and club volleyball and volunteered in ninth grade to be the boys' volleyball team manager. In addition to her athletic successes, she was also consistently on the distinguished honor roll, a member of the Debate Team throughout high school and served as chairperson. Golden volunteered for the National Cancer Foundation Walk and the Pediatric Cancer Foundation all four years of high school.
