FORT HOOD, TEXAS (04/30/2014)(readMedia)-- More than 100 Soldiers of the New York Army National Guard's 1569th Transportation Company left Fort Hood Tuesday, April 29 for their deployment in Afghanistan.

The company, which specializes in moving supplies, is based at the Armed Forces Reserve Center in New Windsor.

The Soldiers have been conducting post-mobilization training at the post, the largest military base in the United States, since they went on active duty on March 9.

The unit is expected to be in Afghanistan for 10 months.
