Hudson Valley State Park Golf Courses Open

Golf Gift Card Makes Great Mother's or Father's Day Gift

ALBANY, NY (05/03/2010)(readMedia)-- According to the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Commissioner Carol Ash, New York State Park golf courses are open for the season in the Hudson Valley.

"Our public courses offer great value and some of the most challenging play around," Ash said. "And with unseasonably warm early spring weather, our courses are already in great condition for play."

OPRHP now offers gift cards for golf at most state-operated courses. The Golf Gift Card can be purchased by credit card, check or cash in person at any of the golf courses at which it is accepted and, in most areas, at the State Park regional offices. It can be purchased for any amount and, while it does not guarantee availability at a particular course or tee time, it has no expiration date and is usable for any golf service except those operated by a private concern under contract with New York State Parks.

"For those looking for a Mother's Day or Father's Day gift idea, consider our Golf Gift Card and share our spectacular courses with your golf-loving parent this season," Ash said.

While most courses have already opened, changes in weather may impact operating schedules. Golfers are advised to call ahead if there is a question about course conditions. Greens fees vary, so parks officials recommend golfers contact each course for current fees and reservations. Rates are also listed on State Parks' website, www.nysparks.com
