I-476 Northbound Exit Ramp Closed this Weekend at Wyoming Valley Interchange

Northbound traffic detoured to Keyser Avenue Exit, Lackawanna County

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA (10/28/2010)(readMedia)-- The Pennsylvania Turnpike cautions northbound motorists on Northeastern Extension (I-476) that the exit ramp at the Wyoming Valley Interchange (Exit #115) will be closed to traffic for eight hours beginning midnight on Saturday, Oct. 30 until 8 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 31.

Northbound traffic will be diverted off at Keyser Avenue (Exit #122), located approximately 7 miles north of the interchange. When exiting at Keyser Avenue, motorists will turn left at the bottom of the ramp (Union Street), then left on Keyser Avenue (under the Turnpike) to re-enter I-476 southbound.

During the eight-hour ramp closure, tolls will be waived at the Keyser Avenue Toll Plaza (milepost A121).

Additionally, motorists entering I-476 at the Wyoming Valley Interchange should be prepared for reduced lanes on the acceleration ramps until the patterns are lifted at 8 a.m. Sunday. The ramp closure and reduced lanes will allow a contractor to perform milling, paving and ramp repairs.

Pennsylvania State Police and Turnpike personnel will help direct motorists requiring assistance. The Turnpike Highway Advisory Radio has been activated; motorists choosing to use E-ZPass Only lanes can tune to 1640 AM for detour information.

This work is weather sensitive and could be rescheduled for Nov. 6-7. All motorists are urged to use caution and remain alert for slow-moving or stopped traffic when entering and exiting the Turnpike and travel at posted speed limits through work zones.
