ALBANY, NY (09/14/2010)(readMedia)-- The Board of the Independent Bankers Association of New York State (IBANYS) announces its slate of new officers for the 2010-2011 year. These officers were elected at its annual convention in August. Paul Mello, President & CEO, Solvay Bank, was elected Chairman; John H. Buhrmaster, President, First National Bank of Scotia was elected Vice-Chairman; Dave J. Nasca, President and CEO, Evans National was elected Secretary; and Greg Hartz, President & CEO, Tompkins Trust Company will become IBANYS' Treasurer.
IBANYS was founded in 1974 to exclusively represent the interests of community banks throughout New York State.
"Community banks deploy their capital and assets on the Main Streets of New York State's cities, towns and villages. Community banks play a critical role through small business lending in the economic health of their communities and New York State as a whole.
IBANYS focuses exclusively on representing community banks in the increasingly complex financial services environment; I look forward to the challenges as Chairman." Mello said.
