ICC sophomores Jeff Joos, Donald Boyette, and Michelle Dutton, and Welding Technology Program graduate Connor Duestch earned four of the five top places in the American Welding Society (AWS) Poster Competition. The posters were displayed at FABTECH, the largest national welding fabrication convention and conference in the world, during the AWS Professional Program held in November in Las Vegas.
The AWS Poster Session is an integral part of the AWS Professional Program and provides graphic displays of technical achievements in research, process development, and welding technology.
"It is great to be involved with the level of student interest in researching and developing the posters and to experience this year's success in the competition," said ICC Welding Technology Program Professor Dr. Rick Polanin.
The student's submissions were chosen from more than 40 entries from students grouped into community college, trade school, university, graduate school, and professional categories. Industry and education professionals judged participants' submissions for technical merit, research methods, analysis and display of data, and generalizations made about the research.
