Illegal Passing Continues as a Threat to Children:
School Bus Cameras to Help Identify Violators
ALBANY, NY (03/28/2008)(readMedia)-- The New York Association for Pupil Transportation is pleased to announce that Department of Motor Vehicles Commissioner, David Swarts, will be the featured speaker at a press conference at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2008.
The press conference will be held at the Syracuse City Police Department – Patrol East, at 2109 Erie Blvd. East in Syracuse, and will focus on the dangers posed to our children by the crime of illegally passing school buses.
The purpose of the press event is to announce that April 2, 2008, is Operation Safe Stop Day in New York State and to call attention to the dangers of illegal passing of school buses in New York State.
The Commissioner will join the Association to announce the installation of a Remington “ELSAG” mobile license plate reader on a Syracuse City School District school bus. The reader is designed to assist in the identification and apprehension of individuals who pass stopped school buses, which is a crime and poses serious dangers to our children.
