Imelda M. Boxwell of Dameron Awarded Scholarship

ST. MARY'S CITY, MD (12/02/2011)(readMedia)-- Imelda M. Boxwell of Dameron, Maryland, is the recipient of a general scholarship grant at St. Mary's College of Maryland. The general scholarship fund – made up of gifts from alumni, families and friends of the college – is given to intellectually talented students who have financial need.

Boxwell is majoring in pre-health science with a minor in film and media studies. She is involved in the student pre-health club on campus, S.M.A.S.H. (St. Mary's Advising Students in Health), the Women in Science House, and the Black Student Union. Boxwell is interested in nutrition and health and enjoys preparing gluten-free and vegetarian meals.

St. Mary's College of Maryland, designated the Maryland state honors college in 1992, is ranked one of the best public liberal arts schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. More than 2,000 students attend the college, nestled on the St .Mary's River in Southern Maryland.
