Independence Party of New York Endorses Reform-Minded Slate

COLONIE, NY (06/05/2010)(readMedia)-- At its nominating convention held today at the Holiday Inn Turf in Colonie, New York, the Independence Party of New York State nominated the following candidates for statewide offices:

Andrew Cuomo for Governor

Robert Duffy for Lieutenant Governor

Harry Wilson for Comptroller

Stephen J. Lynch for Attorney General

And Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand for United States Senate

State Chairman Frank MacKay offered the following statement, "The members of the Independence Party represent a cross-section of political views, but we are firmly united in our beliefs that our growing dysfunctional governing bodies in NYS and Washington, DC are deeply in need of reform from the bottom up and the top down. Our slate of candidates has pledged to the People of New York to make reform their number one priority."

In his acceptance speech, Cuomo made the following statement, "The point that the Independence Party has always made is that reform is going to come from the people. This is going to be a different kind of campaign. It's not about me, it's about we."
