LAKE VIEW, NY (09/28/2009)(readMedia)-- Members of the Independent Oil & Gas Association of New York (IOGA of NY) will host a public information session on:

Thursday, October 1

6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Morrisville State College

STUAC Gym, located in the Student Activities Building

90 Eaton Street, Morrisville, NY

The public information session will address the environmental, scientific and economic aspects of natural gas exploration.

"Natural gas is one of the cleanest, most abundant, and affordable fuels available today," said Brad Gill, IOGA of NY executive director. "And New York has an incredible opportunity before it. By increasing the production of this clean-burning and abundant natural resource, we can improve our economy, increase tax revenues and jobs, and bring our nation closer to energy independence."

IOGA of NY speakers will include:

  • Brad Gill: Executive Director of IOGA of NY and President of Earth Energy Consultants.
  • John Holko: Secretary of the IOGA of NY Board and President of Lenape Resources, Inc.
  • David Palmerton: Member of IOGA of NY and CEO of The Palmerton Group, LLC. Palmerton is a certified professional geologist and hazardous materials manager with more than 23 years of experience in environmental consulting.
  • John A. Conrad: Member of IOGA of NY and president and senior hydrogeologist of the Conrad Geoscience Corp.

Representatives of Norse Energy Corp will be on hand as well. Speakers will be available to the media before and after the presentation.

"New York has some of the most rigorous environmental regulatory requirements in the country, which have quite literally shaped our industry here," said Gill. "These regulations will likely be even tougher when the DEC completes its comprehensive environmental review. Oil and natural gas companies have been drilling for natural gas in New York for more than a hundred years and have an exceptional track record on safety and environmental compliance."
